You might be wondering
Does Cleara upload my photos or files?
No. All scanning, deduping and cleaning happen entirely on your device. Nothing is transmitted or uploaded.
What happens to my Photo Vault if I uninstall?
The vault's encryption key lives only in your device's secure storage, so uninstalling Cleara (or clearing its app data) permanently deletes everything in the vault — there's no password reset and no recovery. Export anything you want to keep first.
Will cleaning delete something important?
Not without your say-so. Junk cleanup only targets cache/residual/temp/old downloads; large files and duplicates are always previewed before you confirm deletion.
How does duplicate detection work?
Perceptual hashing (pHash) finds visually similar photos, MD5 finds byte-identical copies. Cleara keeps the largest (usually highest-quality) copy in each group and lets you remove the rest — entirely offline.
Is Cleara free?
Yes, funded by ads. You will see a full-screen ad when you open the app, and ads at a few points inside it such as after a cleanup finishes; they are frequency-capped. There are no lock-screen ads and no fake urgency. Users who installed an ad-free version of Cleara (v2.2.1 or earlier) stay ad-free permanently.
